Antarctica Cruises

Old friends we caught up with Friday said they'd completed a Tauck cruise/tour which also included Bolivia. They raved about it.

Bolivia seems a strange inclusion for a cruise given it doenst have a coastline.

People seem to have forgotten that you can cruise to Antarctica from Australia or NZ as well. yes it does take longer but you do land on the Antarctic Continent. If you do try to get a cruise that calls at Macquarie Island. not as much ice as South Georgia but the wildlife is incredible. Getting harder to visit as I believe only 5 ships can visit per season.
Other things that can be included is Mawsons huts now 115 years old.
From NZ the NZ sub antarctic islands.

But if the Peninsula you should definitely try and include South Georgia.
I've been following The World's current Ross Sea to Argentina expedition. We left from Hobart but this time they left from Dunedin.

We didn't make it ashore at Cape Adair or to see Scott's Hut but they have managed both. It's been a whale and emperor fest for them as well.

Ah well, next time :)

With a 10% discount I’ve got in my back pocket, plus 7.5% status discount, plus 5% buy on board discount, that mean it starts at only ~$165,000. Bargain! Where do I sign! Oh - no evidence of waving the single supplement. Phooey. 😡

Maybe I can join it in Hobart and do half the cruise 🤣

You would save on airfares by joining in your home town, so even more of a bargain 🤣

Of course - it is just two cruises stitched together: (from Hobart will only get you Eastern Antarctica, though - for an extra night and around 12 grand!)

The lack of single supplement waivers is a real killer for solo travelers. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for last-minute deals-some expedition lines will drop the supplement or offer discounts as the departure date gets closer to fill up those remaining cabins.
