I recently booked two friends into the Rydges Sydney Airport for an overnight stay before an early departure later in 3rd quarter 2026. Today I receive an email offering slightly cheaper rates and a $25 food and beverage voucher per booking that covers the same dates. I rebooked my first booking (saving only $21) plus an additional room for myself, instead of an early morning dash to the airport from the Sydney CBD.
I tried to cancel the first booking and it says not possible. I emailed the Reservations team and asked them to exercise discretion as the new booking means two rooms instead of one and dinner and drinks will be at the hotel restaurant. Reply is "no way, they cannot cancel the initial booking".
I cancelled the two bookings made today and will do dinner etc in the CBD instead.
Great customer service and revenue management at Rydges. Not.
