Yes there was an article in this earlier this week. However, yesterday when we flew PER-SYD with our family on a different flight to ourselves, the QF Lounge passes we shared with them did not open, and when they showed the people at the gate a screenshot of the pass, they were still denied. Poor form by QF again.Have Qantas Club passes been suspended for July 2022 school holiday period? I can't link my complimentary passes to my flight tomorrow and also can't transfer passes to other FF members. I have 4 current lounge passes. Thanks T
Thanks for your reply! I couldn't find recent articles - I'll have to get better at searching on this site.Yes there was an article in this earlier this week. I can read related info below now!Do you have a link for the article?
I have had problems linking lounge passes since November last year. At that time, I took a screen shot of the rejection, and showed it to the Lounge staff who allowed me entry. It’s not a new thing, it is just another long term Qantas IT issue which will never be fixed. Right now, they’re fobbing people off claiming with the school holidays, the lounges are crowded. That may be true, but nothing will change after schools go back.I have read people have had trouble linking passes due to a suspension during school holidays, not sure if this relates to transferring too.
The website has the disclaimer
We may suspend the use of Complimentary Lounge Invitations during peak travel periods such as school holidays. During these periods, you'll be unable to link the invitation to a booking and passes will not be accepted at the lounge.
Given the number of people travelling I would expect that they have been suspended. I had read of a family who were able to link the passes but then were denied entry. That is pretty poor as the system should not have allowed it in the first place.

I tried to transfer two passes today, but nothing happened. The passes won't be used until later in the year, so I have time to wait a week or might even telephone to have them transferred. When transferring the pass, there is no indication which lounge, and even travel date, that the pass will be used for.
The restriction is to linking to a flight, not the transfer.
I can't transfer (was able to do it 3 weeks ago no worries)
Website broken.
Qantas has always had the disclaimer that complimentary passes might not be allowed if a lounge is full. Nothing new there. Hence there is no need to send emails to thousands of customers who won't even be flying during school holidays, nor have passes anyway. This at least explains the problems I have been having. Mrs H and Young Mr H are travelling to Brisbane next week. I had wanted to give them lounge access. I transferred two passes to Mrs H and got them linked to the flights. I transferred two passes to Master H and they would not link to the flights. I transferred them from his account to Mrs H because I hoped she could use them for accompanying passengers. No dice. The passes will not transfer now, nor have I been able to transfer two more passes to Master H. I cannot cancel Mrs H's passes. I have spent days puzzling over this and hours on the phone to various agents.
It would have been so much simpler to send an email to all members to say that passes have been suspended for the school holidays rather than the vague disclaimer on the website that many people will never see, and offers false hope that everything is still OK.
And apart from not telling anyone, how very dare they? They use the passes to attract people to their credit cards - and then tell people (or don't tell them) they can't use them at just the time they are most likely to want to use them.
At least this thread is giving me time to manage expectations. The idea of people with linked passes being denied entry fills me with horror. Do they not realise that these perks matter so much. It is a way for a hard working member to offer a benefit to a family member - and if those family members end up being humiliated instead of treated, it could create an enemy for life. Such short sightedness.
That refers to a specific lounge at a particular moment - not every lounge for a fortnight.Qantas has always had the disclaimer that complimentary passes might not be allowed if a lounge is full. You may think what you please. My family are easily embarrassed and being turned away from a lounge that they had expected to get entry to would embarrass them. But some people might be less embarrassed. A bit like some people are mortified when their credit card is declined when others just shrug it off."The idea of people with linked passes being denied entry fills me with horror.""Do they not realise that these perks matter so much."
I think you are being overdramatic here.
