Earning points

With the Qantas Premier Platinum credit card, you’ll earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 on Domestic Spend (excluding government payments), up to $10,000 per statement period. On monthly spend over this amount, you’ll earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 until your next statement period.

When you use your Qantas Premier Platinum card to purchase selected Qantas products and services, you’ll earn an extra 1 Qantas Point per $1. Effectively, you’ll pocket 2 Qantas Points per $1 on flights booked via Qantas, purchases made from Qantas Wine and the Qantas Rewards Store, the purchase of Qantas Club membership and other eligible transactions.

When using your card overseas or when shopping online with overseas merchants, you’ll earn 1.5 Qantas Points per $1. Note that the Qantas Premier Platinum card has an international transaction fee of 3%.

There is no monthly or annual cap on the total number of Qantas Points that can be earned with the Qantas Premier Platinum credit card.

Qantas Points only expire if there has been no activity on your Qantas Frequent Flyer account for 18 months. As long as you continue to earn or redeem points, your Qantas Points will not expire. Holding a points-earning credit card like the Qantas Premier Platinum is a great way to ensure your hard-earned points aren’t lost.

Earning points for ATO & government payments

The Qantas Premier Platinum card does not award any points on payments made directly to the ATO or other government bodies in Australia.

However, you can use a payment service such as pay.com.au or Sniip to pay tax and other bills with this card, and still earn points at the full rate.

Using Qantas Points

You can redeem Qantas Points for a variety of services and rewards such as flights, upgrades, accommodation, car rental, wine, purchases via the Qantas Rewards Store or even Australian train journeys.
