Falling Short of Retaining Platinum - Qantas Points Offer

Some temporary changes in my travel patterns so I'm unlikely to earn enough SC to retain WP this year. Considering paying the 120k QFF points to retain instead.

Has anyone taken up this offer before? If so, were you able to 'retain' WP the following year for the standard 1200 SC? or did you need to earn 1400 SC to attain again?
you only need to meet the 1200 - this is my situation - retained it last year for the 120,000 and I will just hit 1200 this year. The "status circle" on my personal Q FF page shows me progressing to renewal at 1200. Was worth it for me for a number of reasons which I think you can find in some of my older posts in this thread.

Hugely helpful, thanks @JB expat

I suspect I will take up the offer then, the 200 SC discount on the following year makes it an easier decision.

After 10 years of WP, ( and 2 of LTG) I had a career change this year, moving to monthly travel or less rather than weekly.
My membership year ends on 31 October, so I’m wondering how far out others have been getting the 120,000 points offer?
I’ll be tempted as we have a family trip to the UK planned but not booked for 2020 - so F lounge access, F check in and upgrade priority and/or release of award seats might just make it worthwhile.

I never got an offer but I contacted them and they offered it to me - I just emailed them and said I was disappointed I didn't retain WP and they said to call and I did and they just offered it without any issues

I might have to go down this route in October 2020 :(

Do you usually have to get within a certain range of 1200 to get the offer? I'm going to be well short due to a change in job roles, but am keen to keep it for another year to assist with award bookings.

Thanks VPS, my SC balance will probably be around that mark.
