A Tipple in the Air Brings A Holiday Cheer

This week’s topic is not for the easily-dehydrated. Our members spread the Christmas cheer and discuss their alcohol consumption in the air.

An urban flying legend has emerged that one passenger managed to down eight bottles of Dom Perignon on a long haul flight. Our members question the veracity of this tale. However, it has stirred some interesting revelations about some of our member’s penchant for a mid-air tipple.

Some members use alcohol as a relaxant on a red eye flight and find that a glass or two of wine works wonders for obtaining a little shut-eye. Another member likes to celebrate the commencement of a well-earned holiday with a cheeky champagne or two.

Some members have a strict business class only drinking policy as the quality of the liquor served in business class far surpasses that of economy. The ambiance is more inviting too.

The time of the flight and your travelling companion can also have a bearing on consumption. One member failed to keep up with a Frenchmen whilst another struggled to get served when travelling with a large group.

Despite their penchant for a tipple, our members are a savvy bunch and make a concerted effort to avoid the horrors of a 40,000 ft hangover. They also acknowledge that excessive consumption could cause a safety risk in an emergency situation.
