Retired pilot Ron Haack flew for 49 years, starting his career in the Royal Australian Air Force and finishing up flying Airbus A330s and Boeing 747s for Qantas.

In episode 96 of the AFF on Air podcast, Ron joins Matt for a chat about the life of a pilot and some of the more challenging flights of his career.

What would happen if a Boeing 747 needed to land over the Southern Ocean, thousands of kilometres away from the nearest airport? What’s the view like from 78,000 feet above sea level? And the most important question of all – Boeing or Airbus?

Find out the answers to these questions – plus, why Ron’s maiden flight was memorable mostly for reasons other than the actual flying – on the latest episode of the AFF on Air podcast!
