Woolworths Everyday Extra Guide: Is it Worth Joining?

Woolworths has launched a new paid subscription service called Everyday Extra
Woolworths has launched a new paid subscription service called Everyday Extra.

Everyday Extra is a paid subscription service available to members of Woolworths’ Everyday Rewards loyalty program.

An Everyday Extra membership costs $7 per month or $70 per year. In return, members get discounts, extra points and “extra perks” when shopping at Woolworths and Big W. There’s also a free 30-day trial available to new subscribers.

If you decide to pay monthly, you would be paying a total of $84 for a full calendar year. The annual subscription option is 17% cheaper, costing the equivalent of just $5.83 per month.

Everyday Extra membership is separate to Woolworths Online’s Delivery Unlimited service, which costs $15/month or $119/year. Delivery Unlimited subscribers receive free delivery and double Everyday Rewards points on Woolworths online orders.

The benefits of Woolworths Everyday Extra

It’s free to join the Everyday Rewards program and earn Everyday Rewards points when shopping at Woolworths, Big W or other program partners, including BWS, Ampol and SuperPharmacy. You can convert 2,000 Everyday Rewards points into a $10 Woolworths discount or 1,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

If you decide to pay for Everyday Extra, you’ll receive the following additional benefits as outlined on the Everyday Rewards website:

  • 10% off one shop each month at Woolworths
  • 10% off one shop each month at Big W
  • Double Everyday Rewards points on every shop at Woolworths and Big W
  • Extra perks such as subscriber-only freebies

These benefits are available when shopping in Australia.

Here are some more details about each of the benefits…

Extra Discounts

Once per calendar month, Everyday Extra members can get a 10% discount off one shop of their choice at Woolworths, plus one shop at Big W, when spending up to $500 on eligible items. This means the maximum discount is $50 per shop.

This discount can be used both in-store and, from 1 November 2023, when shopping online.

If you have a discount available, you should be prompted to use this at the checkout.

If you are also entitled to a once-per-month 10% discount as a Woolworths Mobile or Woolworths Insurance customer, you can use both discounts during the month – but not on the same shop.

Keep in mind that you can also save up to an additional 5% on your Woolworths shopping by buying discounted gift cards.

Extra Points

As an Everyday Extra subscriber, you’ll earn double base points on all Woolworths and Big W transactions.

If you spent an average of $200 per week at Woolworths, this means you would earn an extra 10,400 Everyday Rewards points per year. That’s equivalent to 5,200 Qantas points annually.

The extra points aren’t applied to bonus points earned through Booster offers.

Extra Perks

Woolworths also promises other small bonuses for Everyday Extra subscribers, such as free products. This is how Woolies describes the “Extra Perks”:

At Everyday Extra we love brightening your everyday. Extra Perks are little surprises we’ll send your way throughout your subscription. These could be free products we think you might enjoy, exclusive subscriber offers, and extra points boosters on top of those you already enjoy with Everyday Rewards to help you fast track your savings.

As part of this benefit, members occasionally receive invitations to get free products.

Is it worth signing up for Everyday Extra?

If you regularly shop at Woolworths, Everyday Extra will probably be very good value for you. It costs less than $6 per month if you buy an annual subscription, and you can recoup this cost by spending at least $60 each month at either Woolworths or Big W.

If you spend more than $60 per month at Woolies and/or Big W, you’ll get even more back in savings – in addition to the bonus points which can be converted to Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

Thanks
Can't see how we can go wrong with this. Mrsandye and I both signed up for the year

I signed up, given there's a one month free trial. Did an online order yesterday and took the June 10% discount which has already more than paid the subscription.

I just signed up for a year (which begins after the end of the free trial). Seems like a no brainer - the 10% off a shop of your choice a month more than covers the monthly fee (especially at the discounted yearly price).

I'm curious to see what the subscriber only benefits will be. So far it's showing me that I have triple entries into their Big Night In comp...not very uninteresting at all.

I've just signed up for the free trial too. I currently get a once a month 10% discount on a shop as I have my life insurance through Woolies. I'm not sure whether I can double up that with the monthly discount through this offer - I'll have to read through the T&C's

You also get 10% off once a month if you have an eligible Woolies phone plan.
If they can be stacked, i.e. 10% off and then another 10% off then it may be worth it if your expenditure is enough to cover the additional monthly fee.

No, they can't be stacked, they have to be separate transactions.

Until recently I had 2 x $10 per month (well, 30 days) Woolworths Mobile pre-paid services (with the second one in Mrs 2905's name, and associated with her EDR card), but the services rarely got used for anything other then 2 x 10% discounts per month. I'd sometimes struggle to make the second service pay for itself, so when this came along I cancelled it and signed up for the trial. After I've used the 10% discount on the remaining mobile service early next month I'm going to cancel it too.

(Maybe when Woolworths Mobile get VoLTE and VoWiFi I'll consider using them for our main services, but not before.)

T heir T&Cs say you can have more than 1 10% discount just not on the same shop.
The 3X points does still happen if you also have a multi points booster.
