Wondering how to redeem your credit card rewards points? If you have an Australian credit card that earns points with the bank’s own loyalty program, you’ll generally have the option to transfer those points as required to multiple different airline frequent flyer programs of your choice.
You can also choose to redeem your credit card loyalty points directly for things like gift cards, cash back and merchandise, but this is generally poor value. If you wish to redeem your points for flights or upgrades, transferring them to an airline’s frequent flyer program is likely to provide much better value.
To help you in deciding which frequent flyer or loyalty program to transfer your credit card points to, and calculate how many points you’ll receive, we’ve put together the AFF Credit Card Points Transfer Assistant! Simply select your credit card rewards program, and you’ll see a list of airlines and other loyalty programs that you can transfer your points to. The tool will also show you which airlines you can redeem points in each frequent flyer program to fly with, and how to redeem your points for flights.
Note that it is not generally possible to transfer points from Australian credit card rewards programs to Qantas Frequent Flyer. To earn Qantas points from your credit card spend, you’ll need to opt-in to earning Qantas points exclusively (instead of points from your bank’s own loyalty program) or choose a co-branded Qantas Frequent Flyer credit card. Exceptions in Australia are the Amex Platinum & Centurion charge cards.
