Our Frequent Flyer Millionaire!

A new member has managed to accumulate more than half a million frequent flyer points in just four months since joining AFF! It’s a staggering achievement, but perhaps even more surprising is how easy it was for our member to achieve their impressive new points balance. Our member has not been accumulating miles by flying around the world in first class for the past four months – in fact, quite the opposite. The key has been a number of simple yet significant changes to everyday activities, with many of the points coming from credit cards.

A large portion of the points were even earned for free by taking advantage of credit card sign-up bonuses. Often, credit cards will offer bonus points just for getting the card. These bonuses typically vary from around 10,000 up to 50,000 points, but one current Amex offer even sees 100,000 bonus points up for grabs! A number of members use credit card sign-up bonuses as a point-earning strategy, but warn that the long term implications should be considered. Applying for too many cards in a short period time could detrimentally affect your credit rating.

In addition, our member is now viewing everyday transactions as an opportunity to earn frequent flyer points, and it’s really paying off – literally. They now use point-earning credit cards to pay for almost everything. They are also earning points by booking hotels, restaurants and hire cars through the Qantas portal. The Qantas and Velocity Online Malls – where points can be earned for shopping online – have been put to good use. And fuel is now purchased from BP in order to collect Velocity points. Amongst all of this, a few flights for which points were earned were also taken.

Many of these strategies are simple changes that almost anybody could make. Our member advises that there is a way to earn points for almost every transaction. So, with just a little bit of time and effort, you too could be on your way to becoming a frequent flyer point millionaire!
