Lounge Access Whittled away under new Qantas “Enhancements”

A recent set of Qantas Frequent Flyer program “enhancements” have caused a stir amongst our members. The new changes mean that from 1st October members must be travelling on a Qantas coded Emirates flight in order to obtain lounge access. Likewise, there will no longer be lounge access available at Dubai airport unless flying on a Qantas coded flight.

Our members believe that this is a reactionary step by Qantas to prevent people buying Qantas Club memberships and then using the benefit of the lounge whilst flying Emirates under their code share arrangement.

Some members have no problems with this enhancement as their loyalty remains with Qantas and they book exclusively on Qantas coded flights. Accordingly, for the Qantas loyalist this change has no impact.

Other members are outraged at the change and believe it is another erosion of the benefits for Qantas Club members. Some members believe that this change may alienate potential customers and see business move elsewhere.
