There are a range of new credit card sign-up deals available in June 2019, including from CommBank. It is unusual for CommBank to offer bonus points to new customers, however their credit cards are not great value and the current deals don’t come with enough bonus points to make our list. We’ve also seen some new deals from Bankwest, which made a range of changes to its credit card line-up last month.

Credit card sign-up bonuses are one of the easiest ways to accumulate frequent flyer points quickly and relatively cheaply! By applying for a credit card and paying the annual fee, you can earn tens of thousands of frequent flyer points towards your next trip.

If you’re thinking about applying for a new credit card, why not take advantage of these great sign-up deals and top up your frequent flyer points? To help you out, here is a selection of the top 5 Australian credit card sign-up deals for June 2019:

1. Qantas Premier Platinum – 120,000 Qantas points

One of the best credit card sign-up deals for June 2019 is a brand new offer on the Qantas Premier Platinum card. You can earn up to 120,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points by spending at least $1,500 per month on your new card for the first six months. You’ll earn 20,000 points for each month that this target is met.  This card normally has a $299 annual fee, but during this promotion it is being reduced to $199 for the first year. This offer expires on 31 October 2019.

The Qantas Premier Titanium card is still offering an even higher bonus of 150,000 Qantas points until 28 August 2019, but this card has a whopping $1,200 annual fee!

2. Amex Westpac Altitude Black bundle – 120,000 Qantas points

You can also earn 120,000 bonus Qantas points this month – enough for a return Economy flight from Australia to London with Qantas or Emirates (plus taxes & carrier charges) – with the Westpac Altitude Black Amex bundle. You’ll earn a sign-up bonus of 80,000 Qantas points for the Westpac Altitude Black MasterCard, plus an additional 40,000 points with the Amex version of this card added on. The combined annual fee for both cards is $499, including a $50 fee to opt-in to Qantas Rewards. This offer expires on 16 June 2019.

3. Amex Velocity Platinum – 100,000 Velocity points

American Express currently has an excellent deal available on its Amex Velocity Platinum card. You can earn 25,000 Velocity points each month that you spend at least $1,000 on the card for the first 4 months. That’s a maximum bonus of 100,000 Velocity points, which is enough for a return Economy ticket or one-way Business ticket to Los Angeles on Virgin Australia (plus taxes & carrier charges). This card has a $375 annual fee but comes with a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year. This offer expires on 19 June 2019.

4. Citi Qantas Signature – 90,000 Qantas points

Citibank is offering 90,000 Qantas points to new Citi Signature cardholders that opt-in to earning Qantas points (which costs $49/year) and spend at least $4,000 within 90 days of approval. This card normally has a $395 annual fee, however this is being waived during the current promotion. This offer expires on 30 June 2019.

5. Bankwest Qantas World – 90,000 Qantas points

Another new credit card sign-up deal for June 2019 is from Bankwest, which is now offering 90,000 Qantas points with its Bankwest Qantas World Mastercard. This product normally has a $270 annual fee, which is currently being halved to $135 during the first year. To receive the bonus points, you would need to spend at least $6,000 on the card within the first 3 months and keep the card open for at least 2 months. This offer expires on 31 August 2019.

St George Bank also has a new St George Amplify Signature card sign-up deal offering 90,000 Qantas points or 200,000 Amplify points to new cardholders.

Beware that most banks have credit card exclusion periods whereby bonus points are not awarded to customers that have previously held a card with that bank in the past 12-18 months.
