6 Free Ways to Earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points

If it’s been a while since you’ve flown anywhere, and you haven’t earned or redeemed any Qantas Frequent Flyer points lately, your points may be at risk of expiring!
Qantas Points will expire if you don’t earn or redeem at least one point every 18 months. Although it might be possible to reinstate expired Qantas Points, you’d likely only recover up to 50% of your old balance (at best). So, it’s a really good idea to keep your account active and ensure your points don’t expire in the first place.
The good news is that there are plenty of ways to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points in Australia and maintain activity in your loyalty account. You don’t need to fly. In fact, you might not even have to spend a cent.

Qantas Points on everyday purchases
You could also easily earn Qantas Points by scanning your card at BP – even if you’re just buying a coffee.

While these methods are simple, they generally require you to buy something.
Completely free ways to earn Qantas Points
There are also several ways to earn Qantas Points for free! Let’s take a look at your options in 2026…
1. Download the Qantas Wellbeing App
With the Qantas Wellbeing App, you can earn points for completing daily and weekly step goals, sleep health challenges, cycling and swimming. You could also earn free points for completing a BMI check, blood pressure quiz, car tyre pressure check or car brake check.
After the initial 28-day trial, you’ll earn points at a reduced rate if you haven’t purchased a Qantas Insurance product. But you’ll still earn regular Qantas Points for ongoing use of the App, even without buying anything. That’s enough to prevent your points from expiring!

You can also refer up to 20 friends per year to the Qantas Wellbeing app. Both you and your friend will earn 150 free Qantas Points for each referral.
2. Complete Red Planet surveys
Qantas Red Planet members can earn free points by completing surveys. After joining, you’ll be sent regular invitations to complete surveys and earn Qantas Points.
The amount of points earned will depend on the length of the survey, but you can expect to earn approximately 150 Qantas Points for a 15-minute survey. If you don’t qualify to participate in a given survey, you’ll still be given 15 points for your trouble.
See our Red Planet guide for more details.
3. Qantas Points Accelerator
Qantas offers up to 300 points for completing certain activities through its “Points Accelerator”. You can access this on the Qantas website after logging into your frequent flyer account.
You can earn 100 points for completing any of the following activities, up to a total of three activities:
- Downloading the Qantas Points Prompter browser extension
- Linking your Qantas Frequent Flyer account to your Everyday Rewards account and shopping at Woolworths or Big W
- Linking your Qantas Frequent Flyer account to your BP Rewards account and shopping with BP
- Linking your Qantas Frequent Flyer and Accor Live Limitless (ALL) accounts.

4. AMP Bank Everyday account
With an AMP Bank Everyday account, you can earn 1 Qantas Point for every $10 on your average balance each month. (This earn rate is frequently doubled during promotions.)
The account has no ongoing fees (and even offers no international transaction or ATM withdrawal fees). However, the Qantas Points earned on the account balance are in lieu of interest.
5. Qudos Bank Qantas Points Saver account
Qudos Bank too offers a fee-free bank account that lets you earn Qantas points on the balance. With a Qantas Points Saver account, you can earn 400 Qantas points per $1,000 in the account each year, credited monthly, up to a balance of $1 million. With this account, you’ll also earn regular interest on the balance.
6. Complete a free 10-minute “Beach Passport” online course
Qantas has teamed up with Surf Life Saving Australia to promote an online training tool called Beach Passport. The 10-minute training course teaches basic water safety knowledge. When you complete this free course for the first time, you can receive 150 Qantas Points.
