Velocity points earned with Agoda not posting

As Agoda is a partner of Virgin Australia, Velocity frequent flyers should be able to earn points by booking hotel accommodation online through the Agoda booking portal. However, some of our members have reported that the entitled points have not been posting properly. Are our members doing something wrong or is there a problem on Virgin’s end?

Has anyone else been experiencing problems getting points credited for Agoda stays recently? In the past the points plus bonus have been posted within a few days. My last two Agoda stays, nothing. One was in early April, and I have entered a missing points claim. It used to work well and was the only reason I used Agoda.

Some members note that it is necessary to use the link on Virgin Australia’s website, rather than booking directly with Agoda. By booking this way, the member’s Velocity frequent flyer number should be attached to the booking, and the points should credit. However, if accommodation is booked directly with Agoda, then no points will be earned.

Nonetheless, some members continue to report problems even though they are booking using the correct method. One frustrated member has never had the points post correctly for an Agoda booking. This member has been able to receive the points by placing a missing point claim each after each booking, but they lament that the hassle makes booking with Agoda barely worthwhile.

Agoda is extremely frustrating. No matter which link I have used I have never been credited the points without having to lodge a retro claim. Like webslave, I too have been denied points saying that it was not booked though Virgin, even though I had emails to the contrary. After 30 days I lodge a retro claim. Another 30 days I follow up with the plat desk – usually by abouth the 3 month mark I get the points but so much time and effort is involved. I also now use the snipping tool to capture everything as the evidence as Agoda / Velocity just can’t see to get it right for me. Sigh.

Some of our members say that the points used to post within a few days of using the accommodation but note that things have taken a turn for the worse lately.

Our members suggest taking screenshots of the booking process as evidence that the booking was made correctly. They also recommend being persistent when it comes to chasing up the points from Agoda.
