Numerous AFF members have reported that their status credits earned from Jetstar flights are no longer counting towards the Qantas Loyalty Bonus.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members earn a Loyalty Bonus for every 500 status credits accumulated in each membership year. The reward is a choice between 8,000 bonus frequent flyer points or 50 extra status credits towards the next status tier. Up to four Loyalty Bonuses can be earned per membership year.

Only status credits earned from Qantas and Jetstar flights contribute to the Loyalty Bonus. Qantas status credits earned on other Oneworld partner airlines no longer count. But our members have recently found that status credits earned for Jetstar flights are also not counting.

Ever since the recent QF website upgrades of 2017, status credits earned on JQ fares are not counting towards the 500 SC loyalty bonus. This issue has affected all members of my family who have earned JQ starter plus fares.

Another member has had the same problem:

Reconciled mine, 95 status credits earned on Jetstar Starter Plus have not counted towards the loyalty bonus also.

In one case, a member has missed out on qualifying for Qantas Gold status because the 100 status credits they earned from their Jetstar flights have not been correctly applied. This member has earned 530 status credits this year on Qantas & Jetstar flights; over the 500 status credit threshold. But the Qantas website claims that this member is still 70 status credits short of their reward.

A Qantas spokesperson confirmed that status credits earned on Jetstar flights do still count towards the Loyalty Bonus. So, this would appear to be a technical error with Qantas’ systems rather than a change in policy.

If you’ve flown Jetstar over the past few months, you may wish to check whether any status credits earned have been applied towards your Loyalty Bonus. If they haven’t, we recommend getting in touch with the Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre to have the issue rectified.
