Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn 50 bonus status credits, which count towards Qantas status, by filling up at BP petrol stations over the next three months.

With this new promotion, you’ll earn 50 Qantas status credits by spending at least $50 at BP on at least five occasions between 1 July and 30 September 2021.

Both fuel and in-store purchases (or a combination of both) would count towards the minimum $50 spend per transaction. However, some types of products are not eligible to earn points at BP (as per section 2.3.5 of the BP Rewards terms & conditions) and therefore don’t count. These include gift cards, tobacco products, mobile recharges, lottery products, money transfer services and items purchased with the BP Plus App.

There’s no need to register for this offer, but you would need to be a BP Rewards member and have linked your BP Rewards account to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Then, scan your BP Rewards or linked Qantas Frequent Flyer card at the checkout at any BP service station that participates in BP Rewards. (Note that some BP locations do not participate in the loyalty program, including most in Adelaide.)

You’ll need to complete all five shops, spending a minimum of $50 on eligible purchases each time, to earn the 50 Qantas status credits at BP. You won’t earn any status credits if you only complete four or fewer $50 transactions, and you won’t earn more status credits if you spend $50 at BP more than five times by 30 September 2021. There is a limit of one qualifying transaction per day.

According to the offer terms & conditions, “Bonus Status Credits will not contribute towards any Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, Loyalty Bonuses, Lifetime status and any Qantas Status Accelerator”.

However, Qantas has confirmed that these status credits would count towards the Qantas status fast-track challenge requirement.

Qantas Frequent Flyer ran multiple promotions offering ways to earn status credits on the ground in 2020, including another offer in partnership with BP Rewards. But, apart from a few Qantas credit card sign-up offers, these promotions have been less common in 2021.

Last month, Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer program began a partnership with 7-Eleven.
