Earn Qantas Points & Status Credits at BP

The full partnership between BP Rewards and Qantas Frequent Flyer is now live! You can now earn up to 2 Qantas points per litre of fuel from BP, as well as 1 Qantas point per $1 spent in-store. In addition, Qantas Frequent Flyer is offering an opportunity to earn status credits with BP for a limited time.

You can also now earn 10 Qantas status credits and 100 Qantas points for free just by signing up for BP Rewards and linking your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. This promotion ends on 30 June 2020.

It follows the launch of a partnership between Qantas Business Rewards and BP Plus on 1 February 2020. After ending its partnership with Velocity Frequent Flyer in January, BP finally received ACCC approval to expand its new partnership with Qantas at the end of last month.

Here’s how the new retail partnership between Qantas and BP works…

Choose between BP or Qantas points

This week, BP launched its BP Rewards loyalty program in Australia. It’s free to join online, and when you sign up, you’ll be asked to choose between earning BP Points or Qantas Points. You can change your preference at any time.

If you choose to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points at BP, you’ll earn 1 Qantas point per litre of regular fuel and 1 point per dollar spent on other eligible BP in-store purchases. The earn rate increases to 2 Qantas points per litre of BP Ultimate Unleaded petrol. These points will be credited directly to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

After registering for BP Rewards and linking your account, you’ll need to scan your physical or digital Qantas Frequent Flyer membership card at the checkout to earn Qantas points at BP.

Alternatively, you can opt-in to earning BP points. You’ll earn points at the same rate, and these points can then be redeemed for money off fuel or in-store purchases at BP outlets. 500 BP Points can be used to get $5 off, which means BP Points are valued at 1 cent each. (Alternatively, you can choose to transfer your points to Qantas Frequent Flyer later.)

Points are earned per whole litre of fuel. For example, if you fill up with 14.99 litres of petrol, you’ll earn 14 points. Note that some in-store items are not eligible to earn points, including gift cards, tobacco products, phone recharges, lotto tickets and public transport tickets.

Earn Qantas status credits at BP

As a limited-time offer until 30 June 2020, you can earn 10 bonus Qantas status credits just by signing up for BP Rewards and linking your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

In addition, you can earn up to 40 Qantas status credits by filling up at BP until 30 June. You’ll earn 10 Qantas status credits for every 1,000 Qantas points earned through BP, up to a maximum of 40 status credits per member.

Qantas recently flagged that it will be offering its frequent flyers a range of opportunities to earn status credits on the ground as the coronavirus flight groundings continue. Qantas is also extending the status of all frequent flyers by 12 months. The status extensions for Qantas members whose status was due to expire in March 2020 have already been processed.
