Westpac Altitude, Amplify Axe Malaysia Airlines Enrich Partnership

Westpac Altitude and the Amplify Rewards program used by St George, Bank of Melbourne and Bank SA have ended their partnerships with the Malaysia Airlines Enrich loyalty program.

Since late March 2022, customers of these banks with credit cards that earn Altitude or Amplify points can no longer transfer their reward points to Malaysia Airlines Enrich.

Westpac Altitude points can still be transferred to four other frequent flyer programs:

  • Velocity Frequent Flyer
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Air New Zealand Airpoints
  • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles

But this leaves Amplify Rewards members with the option to transfer their points to just two frequent flyer programs – Velocity and KrisFlyer. (Fortunately, these are at least two excellent loyalty programs!)

Malaysia Airlines is part of the Oneworld alliance, meaning Enrich points can be redeemed for flights with Malaysia Airlines and all other Oneworld airlines – including Qantas. Unfortunately, following successive devaluations in recent years, Enrich is definitely not the most competitive Oneworld frequent flyer program out there. But it at least provided an option for Amplify Rewards members to redeem their points to fly with Oneworld airlines.

Westpac Altitude members can still transfer their points to Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles program to redeem for Oneworld alliance flights.

A Westpac spokesperson confirmed to Australian Frequent Flyer that “Westpac has recently removed Malaysia Airlines Enrich points from the Altitude & Amplify Rewards program.”

“Customers were notified of the change in advance and can still redeem their Points for a range of other options including gift cards, cashback, popular products and travel. Customers can also continue to transfer their Points to one of our other partner airlines’ frequent flyer programs including Velocity Frequent Flyer, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Air New Zealand Airpoints and Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles,” the spokesperson said.

The Westpac Altitude Terms & Conditions state that 30 days’ prior notice of changes will be provided in most situations where there are material program changes.

It is still possible to transfer Amex Membership Rewards, Diners Club Rewards, CommBank Awards and some types of Citi Rewards points earned in Australia to the Malaysia Airlines Enrich program.

Just got a message that I can't convert WestPac rewards Points to Enrich Points.. bummer

That's annoying. Did you get a notification from Westpac about this? I wonder when/why they removed it?

Malaysia Airlines Enrich was certainly a Westpac Altitude transfer option until recently. But it doesn't seem to be listed any more here:

Looks like St George Amplify Rewards has also removed Enrich:

Both Westpac and St George are still listed as bank transfer partners on the Malaysia Airlines website:
