Velocity Daily: Earn Points for Shopping Locally

Easy 900 Qantas Points with QuandooYou can soon earn extra Virgin Velocity points when shopping at more than 100 Sydney retailers. Thanks to a new program called “Velocity Daily”, Velocity Frequent Flyer members will be able to earn 2 Velocity points per dollar spent at participating small businesses.

Velocity Daily will be launched next week on a trial basis. The trial will run from 3 April to 30 June 2018, and includes over 100 retailers in Sydney’s CBD and eastern suburbs. Participating businesses include restaurants, clothing stores, bookshops and even dry cleaners. If the trial is successful, Velocity Daily will likely be extended to other parts of Australia.

In addition to earning 2 Velocity points per dollar, there’s also 500 bonus points on offer when you make your first eligible Velocity Daily transaction. Plus, earn an extra 2,026 Velocity points for making 10 transactions of any amount during the trial period. (In case you’re wondering, 2026 was chosen because it is Bondi’s postcode.)

If you live in Sydney and have a Visa credit, debit or prepaid card, you can participate by signing up for Velocity Daily and linking up to 5 eligible Visa cards. You’ll then earn points every time you make a purchase from a participating small business. To earn points, use your linked Visa card to pay by either credit or Paywave. You’ll still earn any points that you would normally earn for using your credit card.

Velocity Daily supports small businesses by offering Velocity members the opportunity to earn points when shopping locally. This Velocity Frequent Flyer initiative is similar to the popular American Express Shop Small promotions. Amex Shop Small campaigns encourage cardholders to purchase from participating small businesses using incentives like Amex statement credits.
