So while browsing on the Velocity current points offers page I noticed this:
https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Specials/velocitydaily/

...from which you can click through to this: Discover Velocity Daily | Velocity Daily | Velocity Frequent Flyer

It kind of looks like a VISA version of AMEX's Shop Local, with a Velocity tie-in.

Unless there is some glitch with the website (possible since the search function is not working) the points earning opportunities appear to be limited to in-store purchases in inner Sydney only.

While Sydney stores are useless for me they may be useful to others...

Apparently some Sydney-based Velocity members have been invited to join the trial, but anyone can register it seems.

The trial starts on 3 April according to the T&Cs.

Looks like a great initiative. Over 100 merchants are taking part in eastern Sydney, offering 2 Velocity Points per dollar (in store only).

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

I received the invite and was pleased to see my hairdresser on the list.
Entered my Velocity number and ANZ visa details.
Unfortunately the link button is not working for me.
Tried on 3 different days at different times.
Tried from email link to velocity daily and also from the velocity site after logging in.

More Velocity site gremlins!

Looks like all the merchants are in Sydney's inner East. Roughly speaking, its an area from Vaucluse to Maroubra to Surry Hills.

I just managed to register and link my VISA card. Was using Chrome browser if that matters/helps.

Does seem to only be Eastern Sydney for now. Would guess they'll expand pretty quickly once people get on board.
Most are earning 2 points per $1. Some are 4 or 5 points.

Also, you get 500 Velocity points on your first transaction after April 3rd.

Tried again on iPad using safari browser - still not working.
Then tried using Chrome on android phone and it worked.

Thanks for your comment re chrome browser.

And Im wondering if these eateries/restaurants can be accessed via Menulog, which I currently get points for anyway.

Yes - definitely useless.

Perhaps. Not one to go out of the way for but note that there's bonuses on offer for first purchase and ten in total. With some creative payment splitting it's some easy points. Not many points TBS but if you're in the area anyways.....

A larger rollout would be expected.

It'll be interesting to see if this prompts Qantas/Mastercard to improve their offering, not to mention Amex.

Sure is a good incentive to whip out the Visa card!

If you have any suggestions/ideas for updates/additions to this thread, please post here.:D
Any chance we can start one for the Velocity Daily Promotion - it's being trialled amongst Velocity members in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Here's a link to the website: Discover Velocity Daily | Velocity Daily | Velocity Frequent Flyer I've taken advantage of it, but am still waiting for the points to drop. Essentially you link your Visa Card and shop at certain retailers (I've been frequenting coffee shops and making <$5 purchases). First purchase activates it and you get 500 points + 2-3 pts/$. After 10 purchases you will receive your postcode in points (in my case 2026). So roughly I will have spent about $40 to get ~2,600 points. I.e. 2026 + 500 + 80 (10 x 4 x 2) - not too bad a haul for a minimal change in behaviour.

Does anyone have an update on when this is rolling-out nationally? Last I heard was "maybe June?" but that date sailed past.

Any luck in getting the 2026 points to post? My partner and I both over-qualified (to make sure no "arguments" with the promo terms and conditions) but nothing yet. The terms said after 40 days... it's well past that now.

Dreading having to argue with the call centre team on this one.

What I'd Love if they rolled out nationally is the ability to swipe your Velocity card at Velocity partners In Store. Certainly an idea to invigorate Physical Retail, which is going downhill rapidly in this online age.

Just in case anyone is interested.
I used my ANZ Travel Adventures in my hairdresser, Surry Hills on 21 Feb.
Got Velocity Daily points a couple of days ago!
Surprised this promo is still going.
