You can now redeem Qantas points for flights on Canadian airline WestJet.

The Opportunity

It’s now possible to redeem your Qantas points for flights to, from and within Canada on WestJet.

WestJet is Canada’s second-largest airline. Although it’s a low cost carrier – which means Business class is not available – the airline has a reputation for good service.

Prior to this new partnership, it was not been possible to use Qantas points for domestic flights within Canada. So the ability to redeem Qantas points for WestJet flights is welcome, especially as flying around Canada can be expensive.

A flight across Canada, for example from Vancouver to Toronto, will cost you 20,000 Qantas points and around $45 in taxes. A shorter flight from Vancouver to Calgary would set you back only 10,000 Qantas points and $45 in taxes.

WestJet operates many routes to destinations in Canada, Hawaii, mainland USA and central America. The Canadian airline also flies to three destinations in Europe: London, Dublin and Glasgow. A flight from Vancouver to London-Gatwick will cost you 35,000 Qantas points and around $46 in taxes.

There’s more good news… WestJet award availability is pretty good! Classic Reward seats are available on many routes and dates. But as with all award flights, it’s a good idea to book well in advance.

WestJet reward seats can be booked directly on the Qantas website.
