Qantas Frequent Flyer has extended its offer of fee-free changes and cancellations on Classic Flight Reward bookings for at least another three months. Previously only applicable to bookings made with Qantas points until 30 June 2022, Qantas’ Flexible Classic Rewards policy now applies to domestic and international bookings made up to 30 September 2022.

When booking a domestic Classic Flight Reward with Qantas points, you’ll now be able to change or cancel with no fees until 30 September 2022 (for travel up to the same date).

The new policy also covers international Classic Flight Rewards booked until 30 September 2022, including trans-Tasman flights. But for international bookings made by this date, you’ll be able to change or cancel for free until 31 December 2022.

Qantas quietly updated its website recently with the welcome news for frequent flyers.

Qantas has continuously extended its Flexible Classic Rewards policy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. When this policy eventually comes to an end, it will still be possible to change or cancel reward bookings – but the usual penalty of 5,000 Qantas points for changing an international booking or a 6,000-point penalty for cancellations will apply.

The Qantas website still says that the Fly Flexible policy for paid international flights will only cover bookings made by 30 June 2022, for travel until 31 December 2022.

Qantas and Virgin Australia both stopped waiving change & cancellation fees on paid domestic bookings at the end of April 2022. Velocity Frequent Flyer has also already ended its policy of free changes & cancellations on domestic reward seat bookings.

For now, Velocity Frequent Flyer continues to offer additional flexibility on international reward seat bookings made until 30 June 2022, for travel dates until 31 December 2022. However, now that Qantas has extended its flexibility on international reward bookings, there’s a high chance Velocity will follow.
