Qantas Frequent Flyer is currently offering double status credits on all Qantas flights worldwide, for travel from 28 February 2020 until 14 February 2021. By maximising this offer, it’s possible to earn status credits on Qantas flights for as little as $2.36 per status credit!
Want to take advantage of the current Qantas double status credits promotion and upgrade your Qantas Frequent Flyer status? We’ve put together a comprehensive list of the best Qantas status runs to maximise your status credits during the current promotion!
The list at the bottom of this article contains over 50 Qantas Frequent Flyer status runs that are available to book right now! There are some excellent deals available from Gold Coast, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Maroochydore, Launceston, Broome and Bundaberg. We’ve also found some great Qantas double status credit runs available on Qantas flights departing from New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
There are currently status runs available on Qantas domestic flights, as well as to New Zealand, Asia, the United States and South Africa. If you’re looking to fly to Europe, you could also take advantage of the current Qantas promotion by using the Finnair Business Class sale from Australia to Europe.
Gold Coast-Melbourne-Auckland in Qantas Business Class
The best Qantas status run we found is in Business class from the Gold Coast to Auckland, via Melbourne. This ticket would cost $1,321 return for Business class…

The Gold Coast-Melbourne flight normally earns 60 status credits one-way, and Melbourne-Auckland earns 80 status credits one-way, before Double Status Credits. On a round-trip booking with Double Status Credits, this itinerary therefore picks up a handy 560 status credits! If you were to fly this itinerary 2.5 times, you would earn 1,400 Qantas status credits – enough to reach Platinum status from scratch.
This is one of several trans-Tasman Business class itineraries that made our list.

Qantas Business Class to Bali
As usual, flying Qantas Business Class to Denpasar (Bali) is also a good earner. Qantas flies from Sydney and Melbourne to Bali, but the best value status runs also include domestic connections. For example, this double status credits run from Brisbane to Denpasar via Melbourne earns 720 Qantas status credits…

Note that Qantas operates a Boeing 737-800 with recliner Business class seats from Melbourne to Bali, and an Airbus A330 with lie-flat beds in Business class from Sydney to Bali. This means you’ll have a much better in-flight experience if you take the Sydney-Denpasar flight. But Qantas realises this and charges around $100 more to fly from Denpasar to Sydney in Business on the overnight return leg, compared to flying from Denpasar to Melbourne.

Qantas sale fares from New Zealand
While the current Double Status Credits promotion is running, there are barely any Qantas sale fares available on flights departing from Australia. But this is not the case for flights departing from New Zealand! Qantas has some great status runs available at the moment for customers originating in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.
Qantas is currently offering sales from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch to:
- Bali, Jakarta, Manila or Hong Kong (via Sydney or Melbourne) in Economy for NZD799 (~AU$766) return
- Los Angeles or San Francisco (via Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane) in Economy for NZD999 (~$960) return
- Los Angeles or San Francisco (via Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane) in Premium Economy for NZD2,599 (~$2,493) return
- Johannesburg or Cape Town (via Sydney) in Business for NZD4,299 (~$4,118) return
For example, you could fly from Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington to Cape Town – via Sydney and Johannesburg – for NZD4,595 (~$4,402) return in Business class. This particular double status credit run would pick up 1,080 Qantas status credits:

(You can save almost $300 by flying with South African Airways instead of British Airways between Johannesburg and Cape Town, but by flying with British Airways you’ll earn an extra 120 status credits for the Johannesburg-Cape Town flights.)
