Qantas Double Points Promotion – November 2018

Qantas is giving away double points on all new Qantas and Emirates flight bookings, for travel from 1 December 2018 to 30 June 2019.

The current Qantas double points promotion runs until Friday 16 November 2018. To take part, you’ll first need to register on the Qantas website. Double points can then be earned on an unlimited number of eligible flights.

For the purposes of this promotion, eligible flights include all Qantas-marketed flights (with a “QF” flight number) that are operated by either Qantas or Emirates. So Emirates codeshare flights (including from Australia to Christchurch, Singapore, Bangkok or Dubai) are eligible, as long as you book through Qantas.

However, for some reason, the promotion’s terms and conditions state that Qantas Frequent Flyer members residing outside of Australia or New Zealand will not earn double Qantas points for Emirates-operated flights. Here’s the wording from the Qantas double points promotion terms & conditions:

For members with a country of residence outside Australia or New Zealand in their Qantas Frequent Flyer profile, an Eligible Flight for the purpose of this promotion means any Domestic or International Qantas operated flight with a Qantas (QF) flight number on your ticket where Qantas Points are normally earned. Any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket which is not operated by Qantas  including Emirates, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Valuair, Jetstar Japan, Jetstar Pacific and other partner airlines are not eligible for this offer.

Double points will be earned on the base earn rate or minimum points guarantee; whichever is higher. But double points are not earned on any status bonuses.

Qantas is also currently running a sale on flights from Australia to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. With Qantas double points, you’d earn at least 10,400 Qantas points for a return Economy booking from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane to Hong Kong or China.

The last Qantas double points promotion was in March this year. Meanwhile, Virgin Australia ran a similar promo offering double Velocity points last month.
