Double Qantas Points on Flights

Qantas is offering double points on all Qantas flights booked by 5 March 2018. To qualify for double Qantas points, you’ll need to travel between 12 March 2018 and 14 February 2019.

The deal applies to flights that are marketed and operated by Qantas. In other words, you’ll need to book a Qantas flight with a “QF” flight number to earn double Qantas points. The offer can be used for multiple bookings made by 5 March.

The double points are applied to the base earn rate or the minimum points guarantee for each flight – whichever is higher. But double points are not earned on status bonus points awarded to Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One frequent flyers.

The T&Cs are clear: “Bonus Qantas Points are based on the Base Rate which applies, or the Minimum Points Guarantee if applicable.” You don’t get any more Double points from having status, however you still get your status bonus (if you have status). So you’ll get your normal serving of points; then later when the double points credit the double points you get would be the same number of points no matter whether you’re a [Bronze member] or a [Platinum One].

This deal is not as popular on AFF as the recent double status credits offer because it is generally easier to earn Qantas points than status credits. But it’s still a good deal if you’re planning to book some Qantas flights in the coming days anyway.

Nice offer, but with points so easy to earn through [credit card] churning and not having any lifetime status yet I’d rather use DSC offers when they come along.

If you plan to take advantage of the double Qantas points deal, be sure to register on the Qantas website.
