Seven of the Oneworld member airlines operate 22 fifth-freedom flights all around the world. This creates more opportunities for passengers booking a Oneworld Explorer round-the-world ticket, redeeming points for a Oneworld Award, or just looking for ways to earn or redeem points on Oneworld airlines.
For example, say that you want to travel from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. There are no Oneworld airlines with bases at either of these airports… but Qatar Airways serves the route daily as a fifth-freedom service!
To make it easier for you to find these opportunities, we’ve created a complete list of all fifth-freedom routes on Oneworld airlines. Included in the list are flights entirely outside of the airline’s home country for which it is possible to buy a standalone ticket. This list is accurate as of July 2019:
- Antigua-St Kitts
- Nassau-Grand Cayman
- Vancouver-New York
- Punta Cana-Miami
- Easter Island-Papeete (this is not technically fifth-freedom because Easter Island is part of Chile)
- Phnom Penh-Ho Chi Minh City
- Sao Paulo-Buenos Aires
- Bangkok-Hong Kong
- Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur
Sri Lankan Airlines:
- Tokyo-Male (1 direction only)
There are currently no fifth-freedom routes offered by American Airlines, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines or S7 Airlines. But Fiji Airways, a Oneworld Connect member, flies from both Apia and Kiribati to Honolulu.
