Selected American Express cardholders can now receive complimentary Silver status with Hilton Honors, the loyalty program of Hilton Hotels. The Hilton Silver status benefit is now available with six Australian Amex cards, including the popular Explorer credit card. Here is the full list of Australian Amex cards eligible for free Hilton Honors Silver status:
- Amex Gold
- Amex Explorer
- Amex Platinum Reserve
- Amex Rewards Advantage
- Amex Business Explorer
- Amex Gold Business
To receive your Hilton Honors Silver status upgrade, simply enrol on the American Express website.
There are three status tier levels in the Hilton Honors loyalty program; Silver, Gold and Diamond. Silver is the lowest of these tiers, and is normally earned by staying 4 times or 10 total nights at Hilton hotels in a calendar year. Hilton Silver status benefits include:
- 20% bonus points
- Complimentary gym access
- Two bottles of water with each stay
- Receive every fifth night free on standard room awards
Admittedly, most of the worthwhile Hilton benefits (like free breakfast and room upgrades) only kick in after reaching Hilton Gold status. But Silver status is of course better than nothing – especially when it’s free!
Several AFF members have already enrolled and are pleased with the new benefit.
Husband just got this too for our Explorer Card. Signing him up now. Yay!
Appreciate the alert. Also received the email and enrolled. In my case I have the Amex Gold Card. A handy extra benefit.
American Express Platinum and Centurion cardholders remain eligible for automatic Hilton Honors Gold status. This is in addition to elite status with Radisson Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy and Shangri-La Golden Circle.
Don’t forget that if you have a Visa Signature or Visa Infinite credit card, you can apply for a Hilton Gold status fast-track until 31 July 2019. Hilton Honors also offers a status match challenge to members that already have elite status with another hotel chain.
