Work in Iraq: Invaluable opportunity or lunacy?

Faced with the prospect of being relocated to Iraq for work, one member seeks advice as to whether this is a wise idea. Our member “Yo Yo Ma” seeks our other member’s views, ideas, and opinions.

A resounding “No” can be heard throughout the forum when answering the query about relocation. Most members feel that the current political situation in Iraq makes work there an extremely dangerous proposition. Our members are quick to point out that monetary gain or job rewards should not be traded for safety or welfare.

Our members remind “Yo Yo Ma” that knowledge is power and suggest more information is sought about the security arrangements, insurance coverage and location. Whilst our member has been assured the work would be done in a “safer” part of Iraq, our member would still presumably be required to travel within Iraq to get there. Our members caution that the risks in transit are great.

One member sensibly acknowledges that only “Yo Yo Ma” is in a position to decide if the reason for going is worth the risk. But, as another speculates, if you need to ask the question, perhaps you have already answered it!

We wish our member luck in the decision making process! Follow the discussion HERE.
