Virgin Velocity Halves eBay Points

Velocity Frequent Flyer members will now earn only one point per dollar on Ebay purchases, down from two points per dollar, as of 1 September.

Just a head up for anyone else doing shopping regularly on eBay while earning 2 points / $ like me. Just done the shop for today and notice a message from Velocity saying that from 1st SEP 2017 earn rate will reduce to 1 points / $ ( same as Qantas ).

As you might expect, our members were disappointed to hear the news…

Well that blows. I was getting some good earning out of that.

Virgin Australia Velocity points can be earned on all purchases from online auction website eBay via the Velocity eStore. In addition to eBay, Velocity members can earn points when shopping online with over 200 retailers including Apple, David Jones, Kogan, Menulog and Chemist Warehouse. Two points per dollar are earned with most online retailers, and from time to time bonus points are also offered.

The Velocity eStore competes with the Qantas Points Online Mall. Qantas offers points when shopping with around 50 online retailers, including eBay. Many of these stores award Qantas points at a higher rate than with Velocity, although eBay only has a 1:1 earn rate.

Not wanting to miss out on the action, Flybuys also offers its own “eShops”. Flybuys members can earn points shopping via the eShops, then convert these to the Velocity Frequent Flyer and Etihad Guest programs. eBay is also an eShop partner, but only half a Flybuys point – equivalent to just 0.22 Velocity points – is earned for every dollar spent.

If you’re a regular eBay shopper, there is still a way to earn 1.5 Velocity points for every dollar spent with the online retailer. ANZ credit card holders can use the ANZ Rewards portal to take advantage of its higher eBay earning rate.

Since i am an ANZ Rewards Card Holder , i will click through ANZ Reward Portal from 1st September to earn 3 points ( 1.5 / 1.725 with 15% transfer bonus ) / $

The various online malls offer an easy way to earn extra points when shopping online. The bonus points earned are in addition to any points you may earn for paying by credit card, so they’re a handy tool for frequent flyer point accumulation.

It really adds up , my recent purchase an ipad and macbook for a family member net me 5000 velocity points from Apple Store online by using order and pick up in store on top of normal CC earn rate.
