The 750,000 Frequent Flyer Point Dilemma

This week one member faces a highly enviable dilemma. Having accumulated over 750,000 frequent flyer points with Qantas and Virgin, they now wish to spend these points to fly in the luxury of the pointy end of the plane.

Naturally, our online community is only too happy to help decide how best to convert those points into Business and First Class flights.

The Qantas oneworld award is a hugely popular way to redeem those hard-earned points. 280,000 Qantas points is all it takes to fly around the world in Business Class with up to five stopovers! These awards allow for travel to a wide range of different destinations in the comfort of Business Class on up to 15 different oneworld airlines – all for only a slightly greater number of points than a regular redemption to Europe!

First Class flights on Japan Airlines or Emirates are another great way to redeem Qantas points. In particular, a number of members rate First Class on Japan Airlines very highly.

Virgin Velocity points can be used to fly in Etihad’s world-renowned First Class apartments. But this isn’t the only way to redeem Virgin points for a taste of luxury. Velocity points can also be transferred to Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program where, among other things, they can be redeemed for the popular First Class suites on Singapore Airlines.

However the points are spent, we’re sure our member will agree that the all the hard work was worth it as they relax in their lie-flat suite in the sky with a glass of bubbly in hand!
