Singapore Airlines Boosts Flights to Australia

Singapore Airlines will add an additional 26 weekly flights to and from Australia over summer. This will mean that Singapore Airlines will operate 20 flights per day from Australia to Singapore during the busy December and January travel period!

Later this year, Singapore Airlines will add extra seasonal flights from Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth to Singapore. Melbourne will also get a permanent fifth weekly flight.

The increased capacity is great news for Australian travellers because more capacity means more pressure on airfares. It comes after Qantas also recently announced a large increase to its international flying, which will take effect from late October 2023.

It’s particularly good news for Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer members, who also now have even more flights available to book using KrisFlyer miles.

Singapore Airlines generally has among the best award availability of any airline flying to or from Australia. You can often find multiple Business Class reward seats on a choice of Singapore Airlines flights when booking with KrisFlyer miles, particularly when travelling outside of school holidays or booking well in advance. This makes Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles a very attractive points currency for Australians.

SQ certainly ramping up capacity into AU. Will be interesting to see if this has any relief on fares.

Customers are certainly voting with their feet. Massive increase in capacity for Sydney, with an additional A380 daily (making two out of four as A380s) and then a fifth service in Dec/Jan.

Have there been any release of reward seats on these flights yet? Had a look and nothing was showing up

All new flight loadings are coming up as waitlist (ex Mel, Syd, and ADL) on saver and Advantage
(for peak Dec travel)

I view this as irrelevant.

SQ deleted Gold Coast as a Scoot base. I liked that option as the SQ seats on the A350 are soooo uncomfortable. At least the Scoot seats were OK.

SQ continuing the flight numbering convention:

  • SYD - all ending with 1/2
  • BNE - all ending with 5/6
  • MEL - all ending with 7/8
