Qantas First Class Award Availability to Dallas

Qantas First Class Award Availability to Dallas/Fort Worth

Want to redeem your Qantas Frequent Flyer points to fly to the USA in First class? This could be your opportunity!

First class award availability on Qantas flights QF7 and QF8 between Sydney and Dallas/Fort Worth is surprisingly open at the moment. We’ve found Classic Flight Reward seats available in First class throughout 2020, with seats available even during the July and September school holidays. An AFF reader even tells us they’ve managed to book four reward seats in First class, for their whole family to travel from Dallas to Sydney on QF8.

Qantas flights QF7 and QF8 operate every day except Tuesday, but service will increase to daily from 30 June 2020. The flights are operated by Qantas’ Airbus A380s, which are currently being refurbished with new seats in all classes of travel and a new on-board lounge on the upper deck. So far, a quarter of Qantas’ A380 fleet has been upgraded.

A Qantas First class award seat from Sydney to Dallas/Fort Worth costs 189,800 Qantas Frequent Flyer points + $359.32 in taxes & Qantas carrier charges, one-way.

There are a few Qantas First class award seats available for last-minute travel to Dallas this month, and a small number of dates available during March, April, May and June. But Classic Flight Reward availability from July onwards – after QF7/8 becomes daily – is almost completely wide open!

Note that a few of the dates that appear to have First class award availability on the Qantas website are actually on Emirates flights via Dubai.

If you happen to have Gold or Platinum status with Qantas, you may even have access to premium cabin award availability from Sydney to Dallas/Fort Worth in the week before Christmas!

Keep in mind that Qantas Frequent Flyer does not generally release premium cabin award availability on long-haul Qantas flights to Bronze or Silver members until around 297 days before departure. That means, if you have Bronze or Silver status, you’ll currently only be able to book Qantas award flights for travel until around the beginning of November 2020. However, if you have a family member with Qantas status, they can book on your behalf.

At this point, Bronze and Silver frequent flyers have generally good access to premium cabin awards on QF7 from July until mid-October. At the time of writing, there are also a small number of dates with availability in early November 2020. Note that award availability is subject to change at any time.

You can search for award availability and book on the Qantas website.

is this confirmed or phantom availability?

AFF Editor

It’s confirmed. A reader got in touch with us to say that they managed to book 4 seats on the same flight, and we’ve sighted the booking confirmation.
