Qantas Domestic Double Status Credits Offer + Best Status Runs (March 2021)

Double qantas status credits is back

Qantas is offering Double Status Credits on all new domestic flights booked between 25-30 March 2021, for travel between 31 March 2021 and 28 February 2022!

As this Double Status Credits offer also coincides with the Qantas Fly Away Sale, there are currently some quite lucrative domestic Qantas status runs available as well. This sale ends on Monday 29 March 2021. (See below for details of the best status runs.)

To take advantage of this offer, you will first need to register on the Qantas website. Once you’ve registered, book any new Qantas domestic flights within the promotion period to earn double status credits, which will post to your account up to six weeks after you fly.

For the purposes of this promotion, only Qantas -operated domestic flights with a “QF” flight number are eligible. This includes QantasLink flights, but Jetstar flights or Qantas codeshare flights operated by another airline (e.g. Airnorth) do not count.

If you’re currently taking advantage of the Qantas Status Fast Track offer, which requires you to earn 100 status credits within 90 days, double status credits earned from this promotion will also count towards this.

If you already have status and your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership year ends between March and December 2021, don’t forget that you can lock in another complimentary 12-month status extension by booking just one new Qantas flight by the end of your current membership year, for travel until the end of 2021.

New Qantas bookings made by 30 April 2021 are also covered by the Fly Flexible policy, which allows fee-free changes or the possibility to cancel for a flight credit for travel until 28 February 2022.

If you already have a Qantas flight credit or Travel Pass, the terms & conditions of the double status credits offer state that “Flight Credits redeemed for an eligible flight booking during the promotion period will earn bonus Status Credits”. However, gift vouchers purchased before 25 March 2021 are unlikely to qualify.

For the full offer T&Cs and to register, visit the Qantas website. And make sure that you register and book by 11.59pm (AEDT) on Tuesday, 30 March 2021. (Last time Qantas offered a major double status credits promotion, in February 2020, the website crashed on the final evening of the promotion. So don’t leave it to the last minute!)

Best Qantas domestic status runs to book with Double Status Credits

If you’re looking for some inspiration, here are 27 of the best Qantas domestic status runs currently available to book during the Fly Away Sale. You’ll need to book by 29 March 2021 to access many of these fares, and note that the fares listed below might only be available for selected travel dates.

During normal times, the most lucrative status runs are often international Business Class tickets. But with international flights not covered by the current Double Status Credits offer, and Qantas domestic Business fares currently quite expensive on most routes, the best status runs at the moment in terms of “status credits earned per dollars spent” are generally Economy Red e-Deal fares.

The best Qantas status run we found is from Launceston to Cairns, via Melbourne and Brisbane. (A similar fare is also available between Hobart and Cairns.) This run costs from $274 one-way, or $548 return. With double status credits, you’d earn 80 status credits in each direction or 160 status credits for a round-trip. That’s a cost of $3.43 per status credit.

Qantas fare LST-MEL-BNE-CNS
Fly Launceston-Melbourne-Brisbane-Cairns with Qantas from $274 one-way.

Almost as good is this run from Brisbane to Mackay via Rockhampton. This can be booked starting at $139 in Economy, and you’ll earn 40 status credits (with double status credits) as long as your flight number changes in Rockhampton. That’s a value of $3.48/status credit.

Qantas BNE-ROK-MKY fare
Fly Brisbane-Rockhampton-Mackay with Qantas from $139 one-way.

If you live in Melbourne or Gold Coast, a one-way flight between the two cities can be booked for $109 one-way in Economy and would earn 30 status credits during this promotion. Alternatively, you could fly Business class for $499 one-way and earn 120 status credits.
