New Qantas Lounge opens in Perth

In good news for frequent flyers travelling to Perth, Qantas has opened its much-anticipated Business lounge at Perth Airport.

The lounge has become an instant hit among our members. The large lounge space features modern décor and new innovations including a gourmet pizza bar and wine bar, as well as work stations and a sports lounge. Table service is even offered in the lounge’s dedicated dining area.

A number of AFF members have already visited the new lounge, and reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

I like the décor. Lighting is a little soft, but classily so. Everything looks nice and calm and comfortable.

Visited the lounge on Friday 28th. Certainly spacious and modern – wine served was of high quality and the food, seating etc excellent. It is a truly spacious area probably 3 times the size of Brisbane!!. But here is the rub, if there is a criticism to make of the new facility it has to be the number and size of the bathrooms. Even the 737 has a better ratio than that provided for in the lounge: Friday afternoon around take off for all the eastern flights saw a queue in and out the facility.

One of the only criticisms of the lounge is a lack of toilets. A number of members have complained of long queues to use the facilities.

Qantas Platinum and Platinum One frequent flyers, as well as anyone flying in Business class will have access to the new lounge. Gold frequent flyers and Qantas Club members will continue to have access to the Qantas Club located on the upper level.

The lounge officially opened on 27 August and to mark the occasion, Qantas put on an invitation-only opening event that was attended by a number of AFF members. The evening included a sneak peak of everything the lounge has to offer, as well as a guest appearance from none other than Megan Gale! We’re informed that it was an enjoyable evening, and our attending members definitely gave the new lounge a “thumbs-up”.

In other Qantas lounge news, Brisbane is the next airport set to receive brand new Business lounges in both the domestic and international terminals. These lounges are expected to open sometime next year.
