Virgin Australia is currently offering 30% off Velocity reward seats until the end of February! The discount applies to Virgin Australia, Delta, Virgin Atlantic and Alitalia reward seats, as well as Air New Zealand trans-Tasman flights, in all classes of travel. This reward seat discount is a great deal, especially for Premium Economy and Business class bookings!

To maximise the value from your Velocity points, be sure to book some flights before 28 February. But what should you book? In this article, we show you six Velocity reward bookings that are particularly exceptional value with the 30% reward seat discount.

1. Short domestic flights

With the 30% reward seat discount, domestic routes under 600 miles in length are just 5,400 Velocity points in Economy or 10,800 points for Business class! This includes routes like Sydney-Melbourne, Canberra-Brisbane and Perth-Kalgoorlie.

This price also applies to short domestic hops around the United States on Delta Air Lines. For example, a Delta First class seat from Los Angeles to San Francisco is currently just 10,800 Velocity points + $12.80 in taxes.

2. Virgin Australia’s A330 Business class to/from Perth

Virgin Australia’s A330 “the business” is an exceptional product. And you can now try it out on flights between Sydney or Melbourne and Perth for 24,800 Velocity points and around $20 in taxes! Just be sure to book a flight operated by the Airbus A330-200 (and not a Boeing 737!).

3. Virgin Australia or Air New Zealand to New Zealand

Virgin Flights from the Australian east coast to New Zealand are currently good value at 12,400 Velocity points for Economy or 24,800 points in Business, one-way. Virgin Australia flies to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin in New Zealand. Flights from Sydney to Fiji or Tonga are also available for this price.

The reward seat discount is also available for Air New Zealand trans-Tasman reward seats. But you will need to call Velocity to book Air New Zealand flights. Note that most Air New Zealand flights won’t have Business class reward seats available.

4. Virgin Australia to Hong Kong

Virgin Australia flies daily from Melbourne to Hong Kong. Right now, you can book an Economy seat for just 19,400 Velocity points + $84.95 (one-way). And Business class is exceptional value at 41,600 points + $84.95. Economy reward seats are available most days. Business class availability is a bit more limited, but there are some seats available if you’re flexible with travel dates. For example, we did a quick search and found this seat available in May:

5. Virgin Atlantic from Hong Kong to London

If you’re thinking about a trip to London, why not fly Virgin Australia to Hong Kong and then continue to London with Virgin Atlantic? A one-way seat on Virgin Atlantic’s daily Hong Kong-London service will currently cost you 27,800 Velocity points in Economy, or 41,600 points for “Upper Class”.

This means it would cost you just 47,200 Velocity points with the reward seat discount to get from Melbourne to London (via Hong Kong) in Economy. In Business, the price is exactly 100,000 Velocity points. That’s a substantial discount compared to the usual 139,000 Velocity points for a one-way Business reward seat to Europe on Singapore Airlines or Etihad Airways!

The price will be the same regardless of whether you choose to stop over in Hong Kong. Note that you will need to call Velocity to book Virgin Atlantic reward seats.

6. Delta, Alitalia and Virgin Atlantic Trans-Atlantic awards

Now’s a great time to redeem Velocity points for flights across the Atlantic between North America and Europe. Delta, Alitalia & Virgin Atlantic fly dozens of trans-Atlantic routes and they’re all now 30% off! Business class flights from New York to London are currently just 34,600 Velocity points. Economy trans-Atlantic seats start at just 15,600 Velocity points.
