Little-Known Shortcut to Virgin Australia Status

shortcutVirgin Velocity Gold status comes with tons of benefits when you fly with Virgin Australia or any of its partner airlines, such as Air New Zealand or Singapore Airlines. These include lounge access, bonus points and the ability to change to an earlier flight for free. Gold Velocity status even comes with complimentary hotel loyalty program status through either Hilton or IHG Hotels!

To reach Gold status, you would normally need to earn 500 status credits. But there’s a little-known shortcut that you can use to earn Gold status for less than a sixth of the usual amount!

The trick is to procure a Pilot Gold membership. Pilot Gold members receive Velocity Gold benefits for an initial 3-month trial period. To retain this Gold status for another year, Pilot Gold members need to earn just 80 Velocity status credits within the trial period! That’s easily reached with just one return domestic flight.

Any business that joins the Virgin Australia Accelerate corporate program can nominate two Velocity members for Pilot Gold! Accelerate is also completely free to join, provided your business meets the eligibility criteria.
