You could earn IHG Rewards Platinum Elite status until the end of 2023 by staying just five nights at IHG hotels within 90 days, thanks to a new 2022 IHG Rewards status fast track!

IHG Rewards is the loyalty program of Intercontinental Hotels Group and covers hotel chains including Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Voco, Kimpton and Hotel Indigo.

You can register for the IHG Rewards status fast track promotion any time until 12 March 2022, or until the offer is withdrawn. You’ll need to be an IHG Rewards member to participate (it’s free to join), but you don’t need to have any existing status with IHG Rewards or any other hotel chain.

You can register for this promotion (and check the full terms & conditions) on the IHG website. Once registered, you’ll have 90 days to stay five qualifying nights in order to complete the challenge. Your account will be upgraded to Platinum status within a few weeks after you complete the fifth stay and your status will remain valid until at least 31 December 2023.

For the purposes of this promo, only qualifying rates at IHG Hotels & Resorts will count towards the required nights. In other words, you’ll need to book directly through IHG.com and pay at least USD30 for the room. Award nights booked using IHG Rewards points or online travel agent bookings do not count. Only stays completed after registering for this offer will count and if you book multiple rooms on the same night, you’ll only receive credit for one of the rooms.

Last year, IHG Rewards offered fast-tracks to both Gold Elite and Platinum Elite status with stays of 2 or 5 nights, respectively. That promotion ran from March until November 2021.

What do you get with IHG Rewards elite status?

In addition to the benefits of IHG Gold Elite status (such as late check-out and priority check-in), IHG Platinum Elite members receive perks including:

  • Complimentary room upgrades (where available)
  • Guaranteed room availability (when booking at least 72 hours in advance)
  • Elite rollover nights
  • 50% bonus points.

IHG Rewards points also do not expire for elite members.

These elite benefits don’t quite match those of hotel chains such as Hilton or Hyatt. But IHG has many more hotels in Australia, including plenty of more affordable choices. So if you’re planning to stay at least five nights in an IHG hotel in the near future, why not register for the elite status fast track? There’s no cost to sign up.

It’s worth noting that Virgin Australia Velocity Gold & Platinum members are also entitled to a complimentary status match to a choice of either IHG Gold or Platinum elite status, or an equivalent status with the Hilton Honors program.

IHG Hotels & Resorts is also offering some members 5,000 bonus points for staying at least two nights at participating hotels by the end of January 2022. Log into your IHG Rewards account to see if you’re eligible and register for this offer.
