Thanks to a new IHG Rewards status fast track, you can now earn IHG Rewards Gold Elite status until the end of 2022 by staying just two nights at IHG hotels. Or, earn Platinum Elite status until December 2022 by staying just five nights within 90 days!

IHG Rewards is the loyalty program of Intercontinental Hotels Group and covers hotel chains including Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Voco, Kimpton and Hotel Indigo.

You can register for the IHG Rewards status fast track promotion any time until 31 August 2021, or until the offer is withdrawn. You’ll need to be an IHG Rewards member to participate (it’s free to join), but you don’t need to have any existing status with IHG Rewards or any other hotel chain.

For the purposes of this promo, only qualifying rates at IHG Hotels & Resorts will count towards the required nights. In other words, you’ll need to book directly through IHG.com and pay at least USD30 for the room. Award nights booked using IHG Rewards points or online travel agent bookings do not count. And only stays completed after registeration will count.

You can register for this promotion (and check the full terms & conditions) on the IHG website. Once registered, you’ll have 90 days to stay two or five qualifying nights in order to complete the challenge.

What do you get with IHG Rewards elite status?

IHG Gold Elite members receive late check-out, priority check-in and 10% bonus points on hotel stays. In addition, IHG Platinum Elite members receive complimentary upgrades (where available), guaranteed room availability (at least 72 hours in advance), elite rollover nights and 50% bonus points. And points do not expire for any IHG Rewards elite members.

These elite benefits don’t quite match those of hotel chains such as Hilton or Hyatt. But IHG has many more hotels in Australia, including plenty of more affordable choices. So if you’re planning to stay at least two nights in an IHG hotel in the near future, why not register for the elite status fast track? There’s no cost to sign up.

It’s worth noting that Virgin Australia Velocity Gold & Platinum members are also entitled to a complimentary status match to a choice of either IHG Gold or Platinum elite status, or an equivalent status with the Hilton Honors program.

IHG Hotels & Resorts is also currently running a “Stay Here, Explore There” sale with at least 25% off rooms at 41 properties across Australia and New Zealand. This sale covers bookings made until 30 April 2021, for stays until the end of this year.
