Fly Non-Stop to Sri Lanka using Qantas Points

Sri Lankan Airlines will commence daily, direct Melbourne-Colombo flights next month. You can book a seat now using your Qantas points in both Economy and Business class!

The Opportunity

Ever wanted to visit Sri Lanka? It’s now closer than ever, thanks to a new non-stop flight from Melbourne to Colombo.

Sri Lankan Airlines, a member of the Oneworld alliance, will begin daily service between Melbourne and Colombo on 29 October 2017. The Airbus A330-200 flights will operate to the following schedule:

• UL605 Melbourne 16:55 – Colombo 22:15 (10 hours, 50 minutes)
• UL604 Colombo 23:50 – Melbourne 15:25 +1 day (10 hours, 5 minutes)

These flights can be booked using Qantas points. An Economy award seat costs 42,000 points one-way, while Business class will set you back 78,000 points one-way. As Sri Lankan Airlines does not impose any fuel surcharges, the taxes are just $84.95.

Award availability is plentiful, with seats available in both Economy and Business class on most days. You can book seats up to 360 days in advance.

Sri Lankan also offers one-stop connections through Colombo to destinations including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, London-Heathrow and Male in the Maldives. Sri Lankan flies 4x daily between Colombo and the Maldives, and booking from Melbourne through to Male (via Colombo) will cost you no extra Qantas points compared to booking to Colombo.
