It takes around 9 hours to fly from Delhi to London. But you wouldn’t see anywhere near as much on a direct flight between the Indian and UK capital cities as you would on what is likely the world’s longest and most epic bus tour!

The new Adventures Overland bus tour from Delhi to London has it all. Over 70 days, up to 20 tour participants will visit 18 countries across South-East Asia, China, Central Asia and Europe, taking in sights like the Great Wall of China, Red Square in Moscow and the incredible ancient city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan.

The journey takes place aboard a luxury modified bus, although travellers do get to sleep in hotels or guest houses each night. There’s a mixture of planned sightseeing and rest days throughout the journey.

Tour participants can choose to take the full 70-day journey, or join one of four legs. The full journey from Delhi to London, or vice versa, would cost approximately AUD$26,000 but includes accommodation and most other expenses. Adventures Overland also takes care of many of the visa applications on your behalf.

The first trip from Delhi to London is currently scheduled to depart in May 2021, with the bus then returning to India in the opposite direction with a new group of lucky passengers in August 2021. The departure date from India is designed to coincide with summer in Central Asia.

Given the ongoing COVID-19 travel restrictions, the inaugural tour may have to be postponed. The company also warns that the route might have to change due to unforeseen events like road closures, border issues, poor weather or breakdowns. But once international travel returns to normal, this is likely to be one epic adventure!

This isn’t the first time Adventures Overland has run tours between Delhi and London. The company has already tried and tested the route by offering self-driving tours where participants travel in a “convoy” between each destination.

Last month, Adventures Overland also announced the launch of a 20-day bus tour from Singapore to India, with the first departure scheduled for November 2021.
