Article: The Challenge of Business Class Service on Very Short Flights

SQ has a very abbreviated service on SIN-KUL which despite that can be a struggle in a wide body, and even longer flights like SIN-CGK where a full tray meal is offered, seem to test the crews who are more used to having plenty of time. Haven't yet travelled in SQ's 737's but back in the Silk Air days, their crew was much more efficient in completing the service in the narrow body on short flights.
I flew KUL-SIN in MH J recently on a 737, and the service was almost non existent. Only "food" available was a small sweet dish, and no alcohol at all. Won't be doing that again.

Back in the 70s we enjoyed short Asian holidays so flying CX SIN- KUL-HKG was done on numerous occasions. We obviously had the lowest fare bucket as always in the last 2 rows of proper airline seats.
Behind us was an old blanket hiding the 6 rows of wooden benches. Passengers proceeding behind the blanket were all men and all carried a small brown paper bag.
We in the cheap proper seats were given a proper hot meal usually satays.
