Nice review. Is the A330 neo flying Syd to Kul? I could manage this in Y (just) on a daytime flight :)

Edit: Just remembered +1 flew the neo in J from Syd to Kul in October...I remember her showing me her photos....the J product looked quite nice!

Love the product....In the article it states that all flights to Australia will be on these aircraft by mid 2026.... are they intending to replace the 737 MAX to Perth as well as booking out to end of year still show the 737 seating.?

I have been looking as well and have seen no indication that the withdrawal of the 737 is going to happen anytime soon. The 737 is still showing up in late January 2027.

Seems almost all the flights from SYD and MEL have moved to the 330-900. I don't see many 350s on the route anymore.

It makes sense since Australia is the right distance for the mission and its a premium market for MH (lots of reasonably wealthy Malaysians in SYD/ MEL). A lot of the cheaper pax would be on Air Asia or Batik as well.

The J seems like next gen Collins Aerospace reverse herringbone seat. Off the shelf product but very nice indeed, i believe BA uses the same seat and its the base model for Cathays Aria suite too.

Taking the family on this metal tube in July to KUL from mel so great reading.
Def seems nice n comfy.

Oldest son & I in the J cabin thou.

On the overnight flight thou. Not day.

Thanks for the review - MH Y looks pretty good indeed. I have to get to BRU or AMS mid-next year and am thinking of positioning to KUL to pick up CX J via HKG (which actually earns more SCs on QFF than the nerfed rates from the east coast).

The choice is MH non-stop on the A339 (hopefully using points) both ways on daytime flights, or QF on a clapped out A330 (possibly with the lipstick on a pig cabin refresh) followed by a hop up on MH from SIN with a night flight back. The QF option would earn more points and SCs (particularly given that some fare buckets on MH Y are non-earning on QFF), but flying modern planes has its attractions.
