Earn More Status Credits on Jetstar with Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra

Jetstar flyers can now earn more Qantas Points and up to 75 bonus status credits each year with a Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra subscription.
Costing $199 annually, this is available as a paid add-on in conjunction with an annual Club Jetstar membership (which itself costs $55-65 per year).
About Club Jetstar
Club Jetstar is a paid membership that gives you access to cheaper fares and member-only sales on Jetstar, the Qantas-owned low-cost carrier. There are also a few other benefits like discounted seat selection, baggage fees and travel insurance when booking Jetstar flights.
Club Jetstar membership costs $65 to join for a year, and $55 for annual renewals.
Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra is a new, paid add-on that Club Jetstar has just launched as part of a new offering called “Club Jetstar Extras”.
What you get with Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra
Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra gives you the opportunity to earn Qantas Points and status credits on every Jetstar airfare, even without purchasing a bundle. And if you book a bundle that is eligible for Qantas Points and status credits, you’ll earn more with Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra.

Specifically, the benefits of Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra are:
- Earn bonus Qantas Points on all eligible Jetstar flights at 50% of the Discount Economy earn rate
- Earn 5 Qantas status credits on Jetstar domestic flights, or 10 Qantas status credits on Jetstar international flights
While the bonus points are unlimited, the bonus status credits are capped at 75 per Qantas Frequent Flyer membership year.
These points and status credits are in addition to any points you would already earn by purchasing a Flex, Flex Plus or Business Max bundle. And the great thing here is that you’ll still earn the bonus points and status credits even if you don’t purchase a bundle that’s normally eligible for Qantas Frequent Flyer earn.
Note that only flights booked on the Jetstar website or app are eligible for bonus points and status credits. Bookings made on the Qantas website, through online travel agencies or as Classic Reward tickets will not earn extra points or status credits.

Is Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra worth it?
If you fly with Jetstar a fair bit and could benefit from the extra Qantas Points and status credits, it could be worth paying the $199/year (on top of the Club Jetstar subscription, which is required to get Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra).
You can earn up to 75 bonus status credits per year, which could be valuable if they help you to earn or retain your Qantas Frequent Flyer status. The extra Qantas Points are also worth something.
That said, $199/year isn’t exactly cheap if you won’t use the benefits to their full potential.
Overall, Qantas Frequent Flyer Extra is a fairly niche offering and not everyone will get enough value to justify the annual fee. But there is a market for it. Do the maths first to make sure it works for you.
