You Still Can’t Earn Qantas Points or Status Credits on Oman Air
Three years after first announcing it would become a member, Oman Air joined the Oneworld alliance on 30 June 2025.
This has opened up some useful new benefits for Qantas Frequent Flyer members, including reciprocal status benefits. And Qantas already made it possible to book Oman Air Economy and Business Class flights with Qantas Points last year.
Yet, for some reason, Qantas Frequent Flyer members still cannot earn points or status credits for Oman Air flights.
Oman Air missing from Qantas earning tables
To earn Qantas Points and status credits on a partner airline, you need to ensure you book an eligible fare class on an airline listed in the Qantas Frequent Flyer Earn Category tables.
When flying Qantas or another Oneworld airline – or Jetstar with an eligible fare bundle – you can earn both Qantas Points and status credits. On non-Oneworld partner airlines, you just earn points (and no status credits).
But Qantas has not yet added Oman Air to this table at all. Therefore, Oman Air flights with “WY” flight numbers are not currently eligible to earn anything with Qantas Frequent Flyer. Not even full-fare Business Class tickets.
This doesn’t appear to be a Oneworld alliance issue, as all other Oneworld airlines have already added the ability to earn points or miles in their respective programs for Oman Air flights. However, it does seem that something is up because, already in early July, Oman Air was flagging to travel agents that the option to earn Qantas Points on Oman Air flights was expected “by end of 2025”.
Australian Frequent Flyer asked Qantas when it expects its frequent flyers will be able to earn points and status credits on Oman Air. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet received an answer.
Oman Air’s competitive airfares to Europe
The delayed Qantas Frequent Flyer integration is a shame, because Oman Air offers quite competitive Economy and Business Class airfares from Australia to Europe.
These tickets use partner airlines including Qantas to get between Australia and an Asian port, with connections onwards to Muscat and then Europe with Oman Air. Asian stopover options with these itineraries include Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
Delayed Oneworld Classic Flight Reward integration
Qantas Frequent Flyer is also yet to allow Oman Air – nor Fiji Airways, which joined Oneworld back in March – to be included in a Oneworld Classic Flight Reward.
This multi-city redemption lets you fly around the world with up to five stopovers. It’s a popular way to use Qantas Points, and theoretically can be used to fly on any Oneworld airline.
The Qantas website does show reward seat availability on both Oman Air and Fiji Airways. But it does not yet let you use these airlines as part of a Oneworld Classic Flight Reward. The website simply isn’t pricing the ticket correctly if it includes an Oman Air or Fiji Airways sector.
We understand that Qantas is still in the process of setting up its internal systems to allow Oman Air and Fiji Airways to be booked as part of a Oneworld Classic Flight Reward itinerary. At this stage, it looks like Qantas expects to complete this process by around October 2025.
