• Travel dates: First outbound flight must depart on or before 30 September 2026
• Minimum stay at the destination of three days
• Maximum stay at the destination of three months
• Stopovers: Permitted, one free in each direction (up to 15 days)
• Change fee: $250 for reissue/revalidation
• Cancellation: $300 for cancel/refund; ticket is non-refundable in case of no-show, and $1,040 no-show charge applies.

On-board product

China Southern uses either the Airbus A350 or Airbus A330 aircraft on its flights from Guangzhou to Sydney. The Airbus A350 is a clearly superior product here, delivering a 1-2-1 layout with lie flat seats.

Between Guangzhou and Madrid, the flights are operated by the airline’s Boeing 787-9. While China Southern has three layout variations of this type, over the last month all aircraft operating this route have featured lie-flat seats in Business Class.

Earning points & status credits with this airfare

This fare books into “I” class. While China Southern isn’t part of any alliance, it has direct partnerships with a handful of airlines including American Airlines and British Airways. You could earn redeemable points for this airfare in programs including:

• American Airlines AAdvantage
• British Airways Avios

For example, if you credited these flights to either of these programs, you could earn 11,125 redeemable miles. Neither program, however, awards status-qualifying miles on China Southern flights.
