Got credit card points that you want to transfer to Velocity Frequent Flyer? Do it during the month of May, and you can earn a 15% bonus!

Velocity’s bonus points offer is back for May 2025. A similar offer usually comes around every six months (in May and November), but this promotion is less complicated and more lucrative than the last one.

How to earn 15% bonus points on transfers to Velocity during May 2025

If you have points with an Australian credit card rewards program, other than CommBank Awards, you can earn a 15% bonus on any points you manually transfer to Velocity between 1-31 May 2025.

You can also get a 15% bonus on any points that arrive in your Velocity account if you opt-in to auto-redemption of points into Velocity during this month. However, you’ll only earn bonus points on automatic transfers if you were opted out of this at the start of the promotion period.

Participating programs include Amex Membership Rewards, ANZ Rewards, Westpac Altitude, NAB Rewards and Citi Rewards. You can see the full list of participating bank programs on the Velocity Frequent Flyer website.

According to the offer T&Cs, the bonus points will be credited to your Velocity account by 30 June 2025. The bonus applies automatically – no need to register.

This is a better offer than the last one

In November 2024, Velocity launched an offer of 10% bonus points if you completed a manual points transfer during both November and December 2024.

In May 2024, the offer was 15% bonus points for manual transfers and 20% bonus for auto transfers – but only if you transferred during both May and June 2024. The promo six months before that required you to transfer points each month for three months in a row.

It’s good to see Velocity reverting back to a more simple offer that doesn’t require you to make a series of transfers across multiple months.

You can redeem Velocity Points for upgrades and reward flights on Virgin Australia, as well as flights on partner airlines including Qatar Airways, United, ANA, Virgin Atlantic and South African Airways.

Any idea on how to get this to work with ANZ?

I have the black setup for auto redemption to VA for the previous April offer of 20% bonus.

Can I turn off the auto and do a manual now and get the bonus 15% or leave the auto on and get the bonus this way?

Or none of the above will give the bonus?

Perfect timing! Just received a sign up bonus in April (outside this promotion period) so will now transfer all points to Velocity and cancel the card. 😀

Slightly OTT, but It seems like Citi is also running a 30% transfer bonus to Qatar Avios.

This makes the transfer ratio for Citi->Avios 1:0.43
Citi -> Velocity 1:0.575 (with 15% bonus)

Velocity charges a minimum of 119k for South Coast to Europe and 158k for some cities.
Avios chargers 90k for almost all of Europe.

Time to get the calculator out!

I TFd on 1.5.25 but my Velocity account states 30.4.25. 🙁 Hope I get the15% bonus without an argument!

...and will have to wait til 30.6.25 to find out 🙁

.....Bonus Points will be allocated to the Member’s Velocity account by 30 June 2025.

Something similar happened to me in the last promotion. I transferred on the 1st of the month and the points credited to my account with an activity date of the 30th of the previous month. Velocity seems to use American times as I'd even transferred after midnight GMT (but before midnight in the US west coast).

Did you automatically get the bonus points? Or had to ask for a manual review

I can’t say for sure if they would have applied automatically, as I ended up doing another transfer later in the month which triggered the bonus.

Triggered it for both the transactions?

Automatic for me in the November 2023 promo (similar timing issue):

Sadly Avios transfer not available on Citi Premier Card. Would be a great option if available.
