International Business class flights are one of the most popular, yet elusive ways to spend Qantas points. Reward flights are limited, but the ultimate points redemption is still well within reach!

The trick to scoring the perfect reward flights is thorough forward-planning. This is because most of the reward seats are taken almost a year in advance.

This week, our members assist a family of four to use their points on a Business class trip to London. The most popular reward flights – such as flights to London – sell out quickly. So, our members recommend booking as soon as the reward seats are released to the public. For flights on Qantas, this usually occurs at 10am (AEST/Brisbane time), exactly 353 days in advance.

This strategy is almost foolproof for single travellers and couples. However, Qantas generally only releases two Business class reward seats per flight. With four family members flying, it is suggested to split the family into two groups. For example, half of the family could travel via Melbourne or take an Emirates flight.

Another option would be to redeem the Qantas points for travel on another oneworld or partner airline. In our members’ experience, Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways are two airlines that tend to release a greater number of award seats per flight, for travel in the pointy end. Flights on these airlines can be secured up to 360 days in advance.
