The discounted prices appear when searching for Classic Flight Reward seats on the Qantas website.
While this offer is only available on the Sydney-Melbourne route (in either direction), the Qantas website is also giving 30% off the points required for some other Classic Flight Reward itineraries that include a Sydney-Melbourne flight. For example, you could get a 30% discount off the Qantas points required for a Brisbane-Sydney-Melbourne or Melbourne-Sydney-Cairns booking.
Here’s an example for the Melbourne-Brisbane route, where direct reward flights normally cost 12,000 Qantas points in Economy or 27,600 Qantas points in Business:
In another example, Qantas Classic Flight Reward seats from Melbourne to Cairns are currently available for 12,600 Qantas points in Economy or 29,000 points in Business, plus $78, for travel via Sydney during March 2021. Direct flights from Melbourne to Cairns cost 18,000 Qantas points in Economy or 41,500 points in Business, plus $42.
