Qantas has launched a brand new offer of double points or status credits, running from today until Wednesday, 3 September. This is one of the most popular promotions among AFF members, with many choosing double status credits as their preferred reward as this helps with earning or renewing Qantas status.

How to take advantage of this offer

You can register now on the Qantas website or in the latest version of the Qantas App for your preferred bonus. Bookings made between 28 August and 3 September 2025 are eligible to earn double status credits or points, for travel between 4 September 2025 and 22 August 2026.

As always, only Qantas marketed and operated flights are eligible for this promotion. This includes QantasLink flights and Qantas flights operated by Finnair under the wet lease agreement.

A small but significant change to the terms & conditions

Qantas has made a subtle change to the terms & conditions of this offer which will unfortunately affect frequent flyers aiming for lifetime status.

In the past, double status credits counted towards lifetime Silver, Gold or Platinum status with Qantas Frequent Flyer. That’s no longer the case, with Qantas now explicitly excluding bonus status credits earned through this offer from counting towards lifetime status.

This is what the Qantas website says about this in the FAQs section:

While double Status Credits earned from previous campaigns counted towards Lifetime status, any earned from this campaign will only count towards your annual status.

To be clear, any double status credits you’ve earned through previous offers will still count. But not for Qantas flights booked during this new promotion.

It’s quite likely that this change to the rules will also be a feature of future bonus status credit offers that Qantas runs in the future. That’s a shame.

Qantas gifting bonus status credits and points

Separately, Qantas today announced that it will gift its active frequent flyers with bonus status credits during September.

The amount of status credits you receive will depend on your current Qantas Frequent Flyer status tier:

TierGifted status credits
Bronze or Silver40
Gold80
Platinum150
Platinum One300

Unfortunately, these status credits also will not count towards lifetime status. They will only count towards attaining or retaining your status during your current Qantas Frequent Flyer membership year.

Qantas Points Club members will additionally receive 2,500 bonus Qantas Points, while Points Club Plus members will get 5,000 bonus points.

Will you take advantage of double status credits or points?

As always, there’s lots of discussion about the current offer on the Australian Frequent Flyer forum!

You can discuss this offer, the best status runs to book on double status credits, and more on the dedicated thread for this promotion:

Copy-pasting in case it gets removed, also the bolded section would suggest there's a DSC coming.

I don't know if that's necessarily the case but those parts of the terms are just saying that package bookings would also qualify. The main terms aren't updated yet

Seems like two distinct offers? Both 'Twice as Rewarding' and 'Qantas Holidays Fly & Stay'. Although I thought they tended to juice DSC's prior to their annual results - perhaps this coupled with all the belt-tightening suggests a less than rosy outlook?

Seems like a slam dunk - I just booked a trip to SCL with a great sale fare, and now that's ended of course it's time for DSCs.

Last year they waited until AGM

They had two last year. One around this time IRCC.

Tomorrow Qantas announces its full year results, and it looks like there's some promos on the way.

The 'twice as rewarding' page used earlier this year for a member promo (either DSC or Double Points on flights) appears to be getting a content update - double points on hotel bookings are confirmed for a week from tomorrow, and there looks like bonus points (double?) for Qantas Business Rewards members.

Might be worth keeping an eye on tomorrow!

Of course.....I just booked flights today
