Hotel Review: Sheraton on the Park, Sydney

AFF is not just about flying! Hotels are also an important part of the travel experience. In fact, AFF has an entire forum dedicated to hotel experiences and reviews.

Our member mmchow recently wrote a review about their experience at Sydney’s Sheraton on the Park hotel.

Sheraton on the Park Sydney is located in Elizabeth St, opposite Hyde Park. My taxi pulled into the driveway and the porter came by to assist me with my luggage. As I walk into the entrance, there is a grand feeling about this place…

Sheraton hotels are part of the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) loyalty program. As a Platinum SPG member, mmchow received a very nice surprise on check-in. One of the benefits of status with many hotel programs are the complimentary upgrades. The SPG program is no exception, with Platinum members entitled to free upgrades to the best available room – including suites!

She also said that they have upgraded me to a ‘very’ nice room and I asked if that would be a suite. She responded with “You will not be disappointed Mr Chow. You will like our Deluxe Terrace Suite”.

The “very nice room” certainly did not disappoint…

As I opened the door and had the first glimpse of the suite, I was gobsmacked! A round dining table with 6 chairs? As i kept walking into the suite, there is a separate toilet to the left of the entrance and further into the room, a massive lounge with a curve sofa to the left and a separate bedroom to my right.

The suite even contained not one, but three balconies – all with panoramic views of Sydney’s Hyde Park.

Platinum members also have access to the hotel’s lounge. At this particular property, the lounge is located on the 21st floor. Our member visited for breakfast and was impressed with the range of food on offer.

I arrived just over their evening hors d’ oeuvres but I did have my breakfast here in the morning. The spread was good – cereal, toast, fruits and a few selection of hot dishes in the like of pancakes, bacon and eggs muffin and chicken waffles.
